Welcome to Ecole Bedford Public School. We are a JK to grade 6, dual-track, French Immersion/English school on the north side of the Avon River in Stratford. We are close to the Stratford Festival Theatre and the beautiful parkland along the river.
The enrolment for 2015-16 is 425 students. We have four Full Day Learning classes for Kindergarten students. Kindergarten registration (CATYO) takes place in November of the year preceding entry to JK or SK. We have six English stream classes gr.1-6 and eight gr.1 – 6 French Immersion classes. Registration for French immersion takes place in January for gr.1 entry the following school year. We are the French immersion school for students living within the Bedford Public School catchment area and for those residing within the catchment of schools outside the City of Stratford. Students living within the catchment of other City of Stratford schools attend Anne Hathaway Public School for French immersion.
Our Bulldog mascot is worn proudly at many extra-curricular events as our students are involved in a wide variety of activities beyond the classroom. We hope everyone will find ways to dive into the life of our community through academics, sports, arts, environmental and leadership opportunities. The more you get involved in your school, the richer your experience.
This year’s exciting developments are twofold and focused on the environment. Our four Kindergarten classes and our grade 4/5 and grade 6 English stream classes are embarking on a year of outdoor learning, based on the Forrest School programme, piloted at Little Falls Public School in the past two years. Also part of our whole school’s thrust to better use the natural environment as a daily learning space is the development of a more naturalized and interesting greenspace surrounding our school. Watch Bed”forrest” develop, log learning spaces and a wildflower meadow. We are grateful for our community partners, the Foundation for Education, the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority, the City of Stratford Parks department, Toyota Evergreen Foundation, TD Friends of the Environment, corporate sponsors Roth Associates, CJCS/107.7FM, private donors and the Outdoor Learning committee of School Council. We are grateful for all community support and involvement.
School Council is an active and involved parent group at our school. We meet once per month to discuss upcoming school events and to plan for activities for students and families. We welcome new members and hope you will find ways to contribute to some Bedford traditions, either by joining in what is planned or by bringing new ideas forward.
